Beyond the Shadows is the thrilling finale to Brent Weeks‘ Night Angel trilogy. Our favorite characters are exactly where we left them in Shadow’s Edge: Momma K is attempting to go “legal” and gain a noblewoman’s title, Logan Gyre is king of a battleworn Cenaria, Viridiana is learning defensive magics from the magae at the Chantry, and Kylar is, as always, The Night Angel.

Kylar uses the ka’kari to become the Night Angel for Cenaria–whether Logan approves or not, which leads to some tension between friends. Also entwined in Beyond the Shadows is the history of the ka’kari, its maker, and other magical items that are sought by more than one party.

As I mentioned before, Weeks doesn’t disappoint with his third book- the characters are both believable and unbelievable (in a good way!) and there are plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing long after bedtime.

This time, however, The Night Angel isn’t the only hero–Viridiana, Dorian, and Elene each do their part to help tie up this stunning conclusion to the Night Angel Trilogy. Not only is this a must read, but I definitely plan on a re-read!
